Another popular Italian dog, Spinones have migrated successfully throughout Europe and North America, where they are adored family companions. Originally from the northern Piedmont and Lombardy regions of Italy, and rather doleful in appearance, they are superb trackers and hunters. They can develop a distinctive doggy aroma if not brushed daily and the amount of saliva some individuals produce in hot weather can be hard to cope with. This is a calm, reliable dog, easy to train, and active in its own ambling way.
