The sole feature that differentiates these two breeds is their ears: those of the Norwich Terrier are erect, those of the Norfolk, dropped. From the earliest days, the Norwich Terrier showed both ear types, and the Norfolk was named as a separate breed in 1965 to clarify showing standards. These two breeds are typical terriers, sturdy and feisty, and with a strong instinct to hunt vermin. They are more open to obedience training than most terriers, and are superb for families with older children. Although lively, these small dogs don’t make great demands for exercise.
